Hindsight is always 20/20, especially when it comes to wedding planning. We’ve gathered information from real brides on mistakes they made and what they wish they would have done differently. Take our advice and avoid these wedding planning mistakes.

Don’t Regret These Wedding Planning Mishaps

1-NEVER make plans without setting a budget. It’s important to know how much you can realistically spend on that dream wedding gown or venue before you get your heart set on something that will break the bank.

2. -NEVER choose the gown before the venue. There are thousands of gowns, but only a limited number of dates for your venue. You don’t want to end up with a 18 foot veil that may not work on a windy day.

3-NEVER skip the paper. Yes, it’s the digital age but nothing will ever replace the allure of paper invitations and hand-written thank you notes. Work with a stationer to design yours with your own special touch.

4-NEVER list your registry information on your invitations. Everybody does it, but ya, it’s tacky. Post the information on a wedding website or provide the information to your parents and bridal party so they can spread the word.

5- NEVER underestimate how much time you need for hair and makeup. Don’t end up in a rush on your big day – work with your hair pros and planners to have a realistic timeline for you and your bridesmaids or anyone in your bridal party who wants to use your stylist on your wedding day. (Don’t forget to ask your mother-in-law… it’ll earn you big points.)

6-NEVER micromanage your florist. The flowers you’ve dreamed of simply may not be in season. Some flowers smell too strong to use as a centerpiece. Your bouquet could end up being too heavy or cover up too much of your dress. These are just a few reasons why you should work WITH your florist and respect their advice – they’ve done this before.

7-NEVER over-schedule your photographer. Yes, make a shot list, but over-scheduling your photographer could cause him or her to miss some of those great spontaneous shots that really capture the personality of your special day.

Bustled events, special wedding moments

8- NEVER skip the trial hair and make up session. You found the hairdo of your dreams on Pinterest. Not every hairdo works for every hair type. The color, texture, and skill of your stylist are all variables that could leave you feeling not so glamorous on the most glam day of your life. So, don’t skip the hair and make-up dress rehearsal, and make sure it compliments your wedding dress.
