A Carolina Couple’s Fall Wedding
What began as a high school friendship, developed into, “I Do’s,” for newlyweds Mary Britt and Jacob Ferguson. Post graduation, the two reconnected during an unofficial date watching UNC basketball, a common theme in this couple’s love story. Jacob even chose the most anticipated game of the year, against Duke, to pop the question to Mary Britt.
The Proposal
Although the couple didn’t attend the rivaled match-up, they spent the day walking around Chapel Hill, taking in the game day atmosphere. After lunch at Sup Dogs, their favorite Franklin Street spot, the two stopped at the Old Well for pictures. It was then that Jacob got down on his knee and proposed. The already perfect day was made that much sweeter with a Carolina victory
The Wedding
Eight months later, on November 4, 2017, Mary Britt and Jacob tied the knot at Magnolia Manor Plantation in Warrenton, NC. The Fall wedding was accented with colors of navy and of course, Carolina Blue. The outdoor ceremony was officiated by the groom’s father, Brad Ferguson, in front 150 guests.
After the ceremony, a reception took place in the plantation’s rustic barn. The venue owner, Sheila Carver served as the wedding planner and also provided the reception’s flowers, linen, food and dessert.
“I loved the feeling of being in one place with all of the people from our lives who love us the most, there to celebrate us! It was such a special and happy feeling. It really did feel like the best day of our lives,” recalls Mary Britt.
The Dress
The bride said yes to her dress at Savvi Formalwear, a popular bridal boutique in Raleigh. Her gown, designed by Mori Lee, was the silhouette and style she knew she wanted for her big day. “I chose this dress because I just felt right when I put it on!” The groom and his party wore formalwear from Belk, each suit complete with a Carolina blue tie.
The Happily Ever After
Besides being surrounded by loved ones, Mary Britt’s favorite party of her wedding was seeing Jacob’s reaction when she walked down the aisle. She also laughs at her younger sister catching the bouquet and her father’s “priceless” reaction. For Jacob, he enjoyed the anticipation of seeing his bride and celebrating with friends and family during the reception.
When asked what wedding advice they’d give to other local couples, Mary Britt and Jacob responded, “Try not to stress too much over the little details, it can feel extremely overwhelming but everyone is right when they tell you that things will turn out beautiful that day no matter what!”
